What is a traveler?
Travelers are trained youth museum volunteers, between the ages of 14-18. Travelers assist in interpreting the rich history and culture of African American Marylanders by leading tours, creating programs and visiting different cultural locations while discussing relevant issues in today’s world.
What does it take to be a traveler?
To become a Traveler you must complete an application along with the requested parent/ guardian and recommendation forms. Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an on-site interview. Once selected, you must attend a three session orientation. Travelers are required to participate in future activities at least two times per month and remain in the program for one year.
Want to become a traveler?
Only 20 Travelers are selected per year. Becoming a Traveler is a special honor and a great opportunity. Selection is based upon application and interview. One application and one parent form are required for each applicant.
