Educator Plan Your Visit


Guided Tours are available Wednesday-Fridays at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Self guided tours start at 10:30 a.m.  Guided tours are limited up to 60 people.  Tours typically last for 75 minutes.

To arrange a tour, please complete the Group Reservation Form or contact Group Reservations between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 443-263-1831.

Please have the following information ready when you call Group Reservations to schedule a field trip:

• Name of contact
• School name,  address & phone number (e-mail if available)
• Requested theme tour
• First and second choice of dates and times
• Number of students and adult chaperones
• Grade level
• Special abilities or needs of your students

Program Costs

Admission for school tours is $4 per student.  Chaperones are required for group visits and are admitted free for every ten (10) students. Additional chaperones are $5 each.

Additional School Program Fees:

Journey In History Theater $5 per person; $8 per person with museum tour
Freedom Hour: Pre-school $3 per person
Joint Museum Tours $6-$7 per person
Outreach Program: Living History to Go $325 per class/assembly; $275 for 2nd performance on the same day. 

Exhibition Studio Art Activity- $ 2 per student

Romare Bearden: Visionary Artist Tour- $2 per student (Maryland Schools)

Joint Homeschool Tour with Walters Art Museum: Members: $12 and Non-Members: $15


Fiancial Assistance

Financial  Assistance is available for free admission and bus transportation for Maryland Title I schools  through the museum’s Children’s Access Program (CAP) on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited funds are also available for other Maryland schools. Bus transportation assistance is limited to two buses per museum visit.  You must have a minimum of 65 students to receive assistance for two buses and 25 students for one bus. Field Trip Cancellation: Schools receiving transportation assistance must cancel within 48 hours of the schedule visit. Schools will be responsible for the cost of bus transportation if guidelines are not followed. Contact Joy Hall, Visitor & Volunteer Services Coordinator at 443-263-1852 or for more information.



Lunchroom spaces are limited and must be reserved in advance. Please note that the lunch area is reserved on a first-come basis. The Museum Café has lunch options for school groups and classes may bring their own bag lunch. To order lunches from the Museum Café, please contact Class Act Catering at 443-368-1334.


Special Needs

The Reginald F. Lewis Museum is accessible for all students. Please inform us if students need a wheel chair or a sign language interpreter while participating in the museum’s school programs.
