Gospel Music Presentation: Oh Happy Day!


1 - 4 p.m.  Bring your tambourine and spend the afternoon grooving to gospel music performed by community church choirs and praise teams during the exhibition opening weekend of Ashe to Amen.  Radio personality Ernestine Jones will be the emcee for the day. A craft activity will be available for children at the exhibition opening.
In conjunction with Ashe to Amen: African Americans and Biblical Imagery.

Featured Gospel Choirs and Praise Groups

The Armstrong Singers    1 p.m.
The Armstrong is a praise group known for singing quartet music and traditional hymns in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.

The Vessels of God, Inc.    1:30 p.m.
The Vessel of God is an acapella male singing group who perform praise music at St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church and events along the east coast. They have recorded two gospel CDs.

Eric Waddell and The Abundant Life Singers  2:00 p.m.

Eric Waddell & The Abundant Life Singers has become one of Baltimore Maryland’s premier choirs and are poised to make their mark in today's gospel music industry. This aggregation of phenomenal vocalists, under the direction of Elder Eric Waddell, has packaged a sound that is reminiscent of choirs such as Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Ricky Dillard and Professor James Hall. They have shared the stage with legends such as the late Albertina Walker to gospel headliners to include BeBe & CeCe Winans and Pastor Marvin Sapp.

Kevin O. Davis and FBC Unified Choir   2:30 p.m.

The Unified Choir of the Friendship Baptist Church of Colony, Texas  is an inspirational gospel music choir who are under the leadership of Kevin O. Davis, Minister of Music. The Unified Choir has been trained in a diverse repertoire of music including traditional spirituals, hymns, praise songs, and contemporary gospel compositions. The Unified Choir had the honor of singing back up with Grammy Award Winning artists Hezekiah Walker, Ernest Pugh and Tramaine Hawkins. The Choir  was honored with last year's Rhythm of Gospel Awards for 2012 - Traditional CD of the Year and Church Choir CD of the Year.

THE REUNION CHOIR OF BALTIMORE, have served congregations throughout Baltimore City and County by developing choirs spiritually and musically. The Reunion Choir of Baltimore has had the great fortune of collaborating with some of the finest singers and musicians anywhere including former contestant on American Idol, George Huff and  member of Baltimore’s own, Dru Hill, Mark  Andrews, also known as Sisqo. The group has recorded three projects including "Awesome God", a collection of wonderful songs which included a special arrangement of "Holy, Holy, Holy” by Baltimore's own Fernando Allen.
